The fantastic people at Finders Keepers records are releasing the super rare 1969 Vampires of Dartmoore album ‘Dracula’s Musical Cabinet’. Rumoured to be inspired by Roman Polanski, this peculiar album is actually an imaginary soundtrack to a imaginary film – if you know what I mean. Desperately sought-after by crate-diggers and collectors alike for many years, the album first came to prominence after DJ Spinna sampled it for Jigmasters’ ‘Original’ and when the folk at Finders Keepers included it on their  2002 Fat City compilation (which i highly recommend).

With breaks galore to keep the hardened breaks-head happy, today’s SOTD is a odd mix of tight and tough drum breaks and bass with slightly deranged ‘boing’ noises’  (as well as maniacal vampire laughter) – which are truly amazing. You’ll be hearing the ‘boing’ all day….

(no download today outta respect to the Finder Keepers crew. The album is released towards the end of June and is definitely worth splashing the cash on)
