Single of the Day – Karen Young – Deetour

Originally released in 1982, this brilliant piece of sunny disco-boogie by Karen ‘Hot Shot’ Young will brighten up your day just that little more. Finding prominence in 2006 after featuring on Joey Negro and Sean P’s fantastic Azuli compilation ‘Destination Boogie’, ‘Deetour’ is a bona-fide anthem. Groovy, cosmic (well I think the lyrics are about some guy in space or something but still a guy in space eh? It also kinda compliments Alan’s Film of the Day. I said kinda. See below.) and just that little bit quirky (it goes a bit crazy half way through) - it’s a perfect spring/summer song.

You can now get the track on the fantastic Undiscovered Deetour EP that was released a few weeks ago. As well as featuring the aforementioned SOTD, it also has three other rare gems that are worth splashing the cash.  Right, I’m off to take a ‘DEEEETOUUURR’. In space. Ok, ok, I’m going now.
