Single of the Day – Anna – Systems Breaking Down (dance version)
SYSTEMS BREAKING DOWN!!!!!!!! They’re not really but have a listen this spooky Balearic electronic track from 1982. This rare and seminal track was produced by 80s disco-pop mavericks Geraint Hughes and Ken Leray.
A dark-synth pop song with tons of atmosphere and feeling, the landscape of synths and weird sounds combine wonderfully with Anna’s tortured vocals. I say tortured but it’s actually her moaning how shit her life is and let’s face it, we’ve all been there. Luckily, I haven’t posted that version today. I didn’t want everyone to get all depressed y’know? And with Christmas coming and stuff, it didn’t seem right.
Anywaaaay, the dance version is a dubbed out dark-disco masterpiece, with Anna’s cut-up vocals floating in and out of a throbbing bassline and a collage of electronics (which is a bit reminiscent of John Carpenter’s Assault On Precinct 13 soundtrack). An outstanding track that won’t make you depressed! Or something like that.

This is quite spooky!
Did I ever tell you about a boy, who was a wizard….
Yes it is spooky. A little bit like a certain boy wizard…
If you like the baseline… take a ride with Ennio Morricones – Humanity (Part 2) – The Thing (OST)
I love that bassline! You should check out this . Think you might enjoy it.
