Little bit of music….

As this magnificent blog is waaaay behind schedule (if we were proper writers we would have been told off or something), i thought it would be nice for you (The mysterious WorldWideWeb) to have a brief catch up on what’s hot right now… on my stereo before we get seriassss. Here we go!!! Yay!!! Etc!!! Etc!!

BLACK DEVIL DISCO CLUB – EIGHT OH EIGHT

 Eight Oh Eight

Eagerly awaited (by me at least) third album from cult disco weirdos (only joking Bernard! Only joking Jacky!) Black Devil Disco Club. After releasing the rare ep ’Disco Club’  in 1978, and the 2006 follow up  ’28 After’, this completes the ‘cosmic’ trilogy. I always find it difficult to describe Black Devil to others, so I’m going to give it a go in a proper crap Observer Music Monthly stylee, ahem - basically imagine that a truck load of wonky synths, italo basslines, strange falsetto vocals are all mixed in a surreal disco blender by John Carpenter and Goblin you’re half way there. Sort of. Besides, they piss on Zombie Zombie.

 Try these for size:

With Honey Cream

(this next one is great, as it has a crazy robot as a back up singer. A bit like Christopher Just’s ‘Im A Disco Dancer’.)

Open The Night

I’m only posting two up as there is only six songs on the recording. If you liked what you heard check www.lorecordings.com and purchase it in it’s various formats. Fanks!!

Elaste Vol.2

Elaste Vol.2: Space Disco - Compiled and Mixed By Tom Wieland

Elaste was a famous German fanzine celebrating all things cosmic, disco, italo and balearic. Head editor honcho and Compost’s Michael Reinboth and avid record collector (a geek to you and me) and record producer Tom Wieland have got together to release this collection of rather groovy tunes. Spanning everything from afro-beat, italo boogie and sought-after Euro pop gems, this is should keep you dancing and amused for at least two months.

Have a listen:

ALEXIS LE-TAN & JESS PRESENTS SPACE ODDITIES

Space Oddities: Alexis Le-Tan & Jess Present a Compilation of Rare European Library Grooves from 1075-1984

No, not an album of ‘Space Oddity’ covers but a collection of rare european library grooves (says so on the cover). Pain stakingly compiled, the good folk at Permanent Vacation pull out of the stops to appeal to the most obsessive trainspotter and the casual trendy. Still on the cosmic/italo tip, re-edits and remixes of legendary labels  like of Musical Touch, Cam, Patchwork and RCA Media are re-discovered much to my delight. An oddity indeed. Sorry.

Listen!:

Dark Is The Colour-Sons Of The Snake

JP Decerf ,G. Zajd, T. Cerrona-Black Safari

Y. Tregger -Girls Will Be Girls

A. Kalma-Dance Soeur
