A Mark E special that is! Mark E is the man of the summer – the ‘so hot right now’ type man if you know what I mean.  This post is basically a catch up or introduction to his works. First known for his edits and remixes for labels such as Jisco and Running Back and for his trademark sound of slow, hypnotic, dubbed out grooves, the following tracks are just a guide to the man’s genius. Remixes and stuff are also included. MARK E – R + B DRUNKIE (GOLF CHANNEL)

Originally released last year, this underground gem takes a slightly obscure Janet Jackson sample and twists it to a throbbing hypnotic groover. Repressed just a few weeks ago, it’s highly recommended that you go to your nearest good record shop and purchase it. Trust me on this one, will ya?

MARK E – GOOD TIMES (INTERNASJONAL NORWAY)

Released on Prins Thomas’ label and using two big samples (Chic’s Good Times – the title’s a hint and Mtume’s Juicy Fruit) this is a slow and a little bit sexy house number.  Also worth listening to is the magnificent Quiet Village remix. We’re big fans of the ‘Village round here and their remix is simply beautiful. Like a dreamy oil painting it is.

GHOST NOTE HOLY JUNGLE (MARK E REMIX) (GOLF CHANNEL)

The original sounds like Apocalypse Now if it were a smacked-out tribal record, Mark E’s remix is dark and intense with loads of percussion. A bit like a stuttering ‘Redux’ version. In other words, Massive!
